Keir Surgical wins Guiness World record for Largest Surgical Scissors.

Vancouver, BC – Keir Surgical Ltd., a Canadian surgical instrument company, today announced it has received a certificate from Guinness World Records confirming that it holds the record for the world’s largest pair of scissors.

The scissors, measuring 178 cm in length, were unveiled at the 20th National Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) Conference held in Victoria, BC in April 2007. The Mayor of Victoria, Alan Lowe, was on hand for the unveiling and helped with the official measuring of the scissors.

“Surgical instruments are my passion,” said Michael Fish, Keir Surgical’s President. “I came up with the idea of creating the world’s largest scissors, in this case a pair of surgical sharp blunts, when I was looking through the Guinness Book of World Records with my daughter.”

The certificate and the scissors now reside in the reception area of Keir Surgical’s head office in Vancouver, BC.
